While most Vietnamese children sleep with their parents until they go to primary school. American children get their own rooms from an early age.

Many Vietnamese parents think their most important role is to protect their children and provide them with a happy and wealthy childhood whereas American parents help their kids to become self-reliant by making them do such things as washing, cleaning and cooking for themselves from the time they are very small.

Right after American children finish school, most of them will move out of the family home and start a truly indenpent life while Vietnamese children do not move out of the family home before they get married. Even the, may parents still want the couple to live with them in the same house.

Trong khi hầu hết trẻ em Việt Nam ngủ cùng cha mẹ cho đến khi đi học tiểu học. Trẻ em Mỹ có được phòng riêng của họ từ khi còn nhỏ.

Nhiều bậc phụ huynh Việt Nam cho rằng vai trò quan trọng nhất của họ là bảo vệ con cái và mang lại cho họ một thời thơ ấu hạnh phúc và giàu có trong khi cha mẹ người Mỹ giúp con họ trở nên tự lực hơn bằng cách làm cho họ tự làm việc dọn dẹp, chúng rất nhỏ.

Ngay sau khi trẻ em Mỹ hoàn thành chương trình học, hầu hết trong số họ sẽ rời khỏi nhà và bắt đầu cuộc sống , trong khi trẻ em Việt Nam không ra khỏi nhà trước khi lập gia đình. Ngay cả, cha mẹ vẫn có thể muốn vợ chồng sống với họ trong cùng một căn nhà.
